Creative Writing & Poetry: Grades 4-5

Most kids this age can get a whole story down already. The harder part is making it good, so that's the work here. They draft, then they cut. Then they try the same scene a second way and decide which version they like better. Poetry gets its turn too, because a poem teaches you to pick the exact word. Everybody shares, and the feedback is specific instead of nice. Kids leave knowing a first draft is not the finished thing, which is the most useful writing lesson there is.
